I've gotten wind that somewhere out there in the vast howling wilderness of cyberspace some have hinted - nay, more than hinted - that I have only recently begun to show my true colors, and only under pressure from the PCA GA FV study committee.
I could protest my honesty, but that's just what a schemer like me would do, no?
I could point to the fact that I've been writing about these subjects in public for several years, for all the world to see, right here.
I could point to the fact that more than two years ago I posted a summary of my views on these subjects, composed at the request of an investigative committee of Presbytery, on this site, and that the views expressed in last week's letter to the Presbytery's stated clerk are the same as they were two years ago.
In the end, I thought it best to ask someone else. Pastor Rob Rayburn, Stated Clerk of the Pacific NW Presbytery, graciously provided this testimonial:
"It has been alleged by some that Mr. Leithart has not been forthright in the declaration of his views or that he has withheld his true opinions until supposedly required to divulge them by the PCA General Assembly's approval of the report of its study committee on the so-called 'Federal Vision.' This is certainly not the view of the Presbytery of the Pacific Northwest which has officially published in its minutes its appreciation of Mr. Leithart's cheerful cooperation with its investigative committee and his direct, candid, and complete answers to the committee's questions. At no time did the Presbytery committee believe that Mr. Leithart was being disingenuous, nor has that suspicion surfaced in any of Presbytery's deliberations on the question."
